Ironworkers Local #5
Largo, MD
Buch worked with the Ironworkers’ Local #5 to build their new Union Hall, Offices, and Joint Apprenticeship Training Center. The project involved removing a 6,200 SF section of the building’s roof and extending the building structure an additional 20 feet in order to accommodate the installation of a 5-ton gantry crane and allow the JATC program to train apprentices on erecting steel columns and beams indoors. A state-of-the-art welding training center with 30 student welding stations and an instructor’s station were installed, each with its own fume extraction arm that is tied into a complex fume extraction system to mitigate welding fumes during welding training.
“Safety is our highest priority—and at the core of everything we do.”
