Precigen cGMP Facility Modifications
Germantown, MD
Buch successfully completed a complex project to convert an existing office space into GMP/ISO cleanroom and additional manufacturing areas within a strict 12-week time frame. The project involved the demolition of an existing lab space and the expansion of ISO 7 and ISO 8 cleanroom spaces. New CNC storage facilities, personnel areas, and logistics support spaces were constructed, and a new fan coil and DOAS HVAC system were installed to support these additions. The finishing touches included epoxy paint, sheet vinyl, and other appropriate finishes. Despite the modular constraints of the existing ISO cleanroom, which limited how the new structures could interact and attach to it, the project team effectively navigated these challenges. Primary utilities were rerouted through the roof of an adjacent tenant’s space, a task made difficult by limited overheard and access space. Nevertheless, the team managed to maintain compliance and functionality throughout the process. The tight schedule required extensive overtime work and constant real-time collaboration with the Design and Ownership team to address and overcome field challenges promptly. The project’s success is a testament to the team’s ability to deliver high-quality, compliant facilities under stringent time constraints through effective collaboration and innovative problem-solving. This conversion met all regulatory requirements and production needs, showcasing the company’s expertise in complex renovations and conversions
