Beacon Square
Annapolis, MD
SJC Ventures selected Buch as the general contractor for Beacon Square, a new mixed-use development spanning 13 acres in Annapolis, MD. The shopping center serves as a vibrant living and shopping destination, featuring four retail building shells, a grocery-anchored retail center, a multifamily complex, and 528 parking spaces.
Buch’s scope of work includes the demolition of three existing buildings, site preparation with mass grading and utility installation, the construction of five retail building shells, and the Arhaus store fit-out:
- Building 100: A 40,000 SF future grocery store shell.
- Building 300: A 22,930 SF two-tenant retail shell featuring an extensive green roof
and the Arhaus fit-out. - Building 350: A 3,487 SF retail shell.
- Building 400: An 8,000 SF multi-tenant retail shell.
- Building 600: A 3,000 SF multi-tenant retail shell.
The project team delivered innovative solutions throughout the project life cycle by successfully executing all scope items. Highlights included constructing a 475-linear foot segmental retaining wall, upgrading traffic signals, and coordinating utility system improvements with BGE, Verizon, and Comcast. To streamline the wall construction and avoid the need for sheeting and shoring, a temporary construction easement was obtained from a neighboring property owner.
