Four Decades of History
40 years ago, sitting at their kitchen table, Marie and James R. Buch founded our company. From the beginning, the Buchs emphasized that this would be a company where people worked hard, worked honestly, and worked together—like a family.

CEO Denise Buch drives Buch Construction’s success with her inspired financial leadership. She has been a central part of the company since its earliest days, focusing on financial operations, strategic growth, bonding and insurance capabilities, and banking. The daughter of founders Marie and Jimmy Buch, Denise holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Baltimore. In her spare time, she is an avid tennis player.
President Carl Buch leads Buch Construction’s strategic growth and guides the direction of the company in collaboration with CEO Denise Buch and Senior Vice President Michael Buch. A son of founders Marie and Jimmy Buch, he grew up in the world of construction, pitching in at a young age on Jimmy Carter’s inauguration. Carl played college football and graduated from Elon University with a Business Administration degree. An expert at building and maintaining powerful client relationships, Carl enjoys seeing the company grow, calling our rising new talent his inspiration. He treasures quality time with his wife and kids and watching them pursue their own passions.
Senior Vice President Michael Buch oversees all Buch Construction project teams. He is responsible for supporting all company operations, client engagement, recruitment, and growth. A son of founders Marie and Jimmy Buch, Mike worked as a helper on the company’s first project and as a laborer each summer while in high school. He enjoys spending time with his family, his four mini-labradoodles—and a cold beer while watching any DC sports team play.
Executive Vice President Peter Bulcavage oversees Buch Construction’s base building, life sciences, interiors, and retail project teams. Peter has been an integral part of the company since 2004, after stints with top CM firms. He graduated from Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA, and holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Penn State. Service-oriented and quality-driven, Peter enjoys building long-lasting relationships for the company.
As Project Executive, Dan Adams manages project teams and provides operational support and oversight in all project phases. His technical background includes experience at a number of life sciences facilities with a focus on clean room and lab renovations. Born and raised in Maryland, Dan holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Maryland. In his free time, he enjoys homebrewing beer, traveling, and spending time with his wife and dogs.
Vice President Anthony Agliata is an expert at delivering high-quality service to his clients. Anthony, who began at Buch as a project engineer, has worked on some of the company’s highest profile tenant interior, health care, repositioning, and multifamily projects. He is also active with NAIOP. A business school graduate from Iowa State with a Master’s in Real Estate Development from the University of Maryland, Anthony enjoys swimming—a lifelong passion—as well as dining out, spending time with his family, and working in his large vegetable garden.
As Project Executive, Lynn Appel leads project teams in the Interiors Division, focusing on tenant interior fit-outs and bank renovations with a specialty in occupied and phased renovations. Lynn joined Buch as a project engineer after graduating from Penn State with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with a focus in Construction Management and a Minor in Architectural Studies. A Severna Park, MD, native, Lynn attended Archbishop Spalding High School. She enjoys coaching lacrosse, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Vice President, Northeast, Ray Atkin, has over 40 years of experience in the industry, Ray has served as Director of Construction for Macy’s and director of capital projects at both Macy’s and Bloomingdales. His passion for his work is evident in both his dedication to the job and his enthusiasm when presented with new challenges. A Long Island native, Ray is also an avid sailor in his spare time.
As Vice President, Interiors, Stephen Bulcavage generates new business, builds client relationships, and manages our interiors team. Steve graduated from Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA, and Towson University, where he played football. Steve has continued to build his expertise, becoming a LEED AP and obtaining additional state licenses to help broaden Buch Construction’s geographical reach.
Project Executive Vinny DeRosa leads project teams and provides operational support and oversight in all project phases. He has experience with a wide range of projects, from single office fit-outs to major transit systems. Born and raised in Connecticut, Vinny has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Penn State and a Master’s in Engineering Management from Cornell. He is a professional engineer licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Vinny enjoys spending time with his family, golf, and all things Penn State.
Ryan Dougherty, Chief Financial Officer, oversees the finance and accounting functions at Buch Construction. His technical, financial, and operational experience allow him to identify and assess complex construction risks and implement risk mitigation strategies. A Maryland native and Calvert Hall graduate, Ryan received his Bachelor of Science, Mathematics in Actuarial Science and Risk Management degree from Towson. Married with four children, Ryan enjoys spending time outdoors, coaching his kids in sports, and all things Ravens.
As Director of Florida, Danny Facchina is responsible for leading the management, administration, and growth of Buch’s Southeast portfolio. With over 10 years of retail, base building, and commercial interior experience, Danny directs preconstruction and the project team’s management of construction activities. Born and raised in Howard County, MD, Danny graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Mining & Minerals Engineering. He enjoys golfing, sports, and spending time with family and friends.
As the Safety Director, Gene Hansen oversees all aspects of safety and field compliance for Buch’s ongoing construction and services work, making regular site visits to continue the growth of Buch’s proactive safety culture. He reviews JHAs and job-specific safety plans with Buch’s project teams and works to provide a best-in-class safety program. Born and raised in Stockton, CA, Gene joined the military after high school. He enjoys cooking outdoors and spending time with family at their farm.
Lein Holsboer, Director of Marketing and Business Development, leads Buch’s marketing initiatives and outreach with a passion for branding and professional development. Lein holds a Bachelor of Communications with a focus on Digital Marketing from the University of Maryland, where she played field hockey and earned All-American and All-Big-Ten honors. She is an active member of industry organizations such as CREW and SMPS Maryland. Originally from the Netherlands, Lein enjoys long bike rides, Dutch cheese and the color orange.
As Director, Retail, Greg Kozero leads the day-to-day operations of Buch’s retail team, generating new business and maintaining top-notch client relationships. Since joining us in 2013 as a project engineer, Greg has delivered and overseen over a million square feet of construction in retail, life sciences, base building, interior fit-outs, and renovations. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Penn State and is an active member of ICSC and RCA. He enjoys the outdoors, taking on small house projects, and spending time with family.
Brandon Martinez is a Project Executive, directing project teams and providing operational support and oversight in all project phases. He began his Buch career working in the field as a laborer’s helper. Brandon was born and raised in Maryland and graduated from Towson University. Married with three young children, he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family.
Vice President Gonzalo Martinez provides support to the project teams with respect to budgets, scheduling and constructability. He brings more than 35 years of experience, having begun his career as a carpenter’s apprentice, and then focusing on construction for a range of retail clients, followed by corporate interiors, where he spent a decade as Buch’s Vice President, Interiors.
Vice President, Safety, Greg Pool oversees all aspects of safety and field compliance for Buch Construction. Greg joined Buch in 2010, after 21 years’ experience with the United States Air Force, where he held several safety positions. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupation Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University and an Associate’s degree in Construction Technology and Occupational Safety and Health from the Community College of the Air Force.
Vice President Allan Reed oversees Buch Construction’s projects, ensuring teams implement each project properly, stay ahead of schedule, uphold quality, and follow up promptly on client requests. Allan has been an integral part of the company since our inception in 1984. Starting as a carpenter, he has built a career of more than 35 years of hands-on construction and field management experience.
Vice President for Construction Zach Schneider oversees Buch Construction’s base building and retail divisions. Zach began his career with Buch in 1998 in the field, as an assistant superintendent. He has worked hard to build the company portfolio and strengthen client and industry relationships. In addition to his work at Buch, Zach is a Volunteer Fire Lieutenant in Sykesville, MD. He enjoys traveling, coaching his son’s baseball and basketball teams, and watching his daughter ride horseback and play tennis.
Ryan Vick, Vice President, Preconstruction, leads our team of estimators. He is responsible for some of the company’s most prestigious projects, focusing on complex renovations, base building, and interiors. Ryan is known for his careful attention to detail and his eye for identifying inefficiencies that save our clients’ money. A graduate of the East Carolina University Construction Management program, Ryan grew up in Lumberton, NC. When not spending time with his wife and sons, he enjoys golfing and traveling.
As Vice President, Field Operations, Mark Ward oversees the field, assigns project teams, and coordinates manpower and company resources. He can often be seen at job sites, ensuring that schedules, quality, and safety meet both customers’ satisfaction and Buch’s high standards. With almost three decades in the business, he is an active member of the Board of Trustees of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Carpenter & Apprenticeship Committee.
Jeff Williford, Vice President of Buch’s Life Sciences division, has decades of experience with highly technical and complex projects, including laboratories, manufacturing sites, and mechanical, electrical, and process water systems. A Maryland native, Jeff is a proud University of Maryland alum and serves on the board of ISPE’s (International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering) Chesapeake Bay Area Chapter. He enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife and two children on their farm.

Wegmans Wisconsin Avenue
Our team was honored to be recognized with an Award of Excellence – Best Retail Project for the Wegmans Wisconsin Avenue project. The 84,000 SF grocery store is underneath the historic building formerly occupied by Fannie Mae’s headquarters. The project received LEED-certified standards.
