Buch was selected as the general contractor for construction of Capital Digestive Care’s new corporate headquarters and clinical lab testing facility in Silver Spring, MD. The 21,100 SF conversion consists of 50% clinical testing labs, and 50% corporate office interiors. The open floorplan lab spaces are designed to support self-contained, automated robotic samplers with supporting office workspace for the lab staff and technicians. Close coordination with the end users ensured the appropriate utilities were in place at the right locations to layout the equipment as needed to match their workflow. Additional features include flammable and chemical storage areas within the dedicated warehouse space that supports the lab’s activities. In order to meet the functional and aesthetic demands of the CDC design, Buch worked closely with the design team, landlord, Facility Logix and Montgomery County permit office to help develop options that would meet all the requirements from each party.
