Under Armour – Sports House Flagship

Baltimore, MD

Buch proudly completed the interior fit-out for Under Armour’s new Flagship store, located on the ground floor of their new global HQ in Baltimore. This project brought to life a modern, dynamic retail space that not only highlights Under Armour’s innovative products but also fully aligns with the brand’s bold vision.

From the start, our partnership with MGAC Partners and Under Armour was a collaborative effort. We received the initial drawings in September 2023, which launched months of careful planning, budget discussions, and value engineering. By February 2024, the project was officially awarded, and our team was ready to deliver.

Key Features of the Project Include

  • Custom Millwork Wrapped in Black and Steel Metal: The space features custom millwork, carefully crafted and wrapped in a striking combination of black finishes and steel metal accents. This custom design element adds a sophisticated yet industrial touch, enhancing the retail environment.
  • Advanced Lighting to Elevate Product Displays: Strategic placement of advanced lighting fixtures was employed to highlight the retail displays, drawing attention to Under Armour’s innovative products. The lighting system was carefully designed to create an immersive shopping experience, with adjustable fixtures that bring each product to life.
  • Exposed Mass Timber Structure and Ceiling: One of the most striking features of the space is the exposed mass timber structure and open ceilings. This design choice not only adds warmth and texture to the space but also complements the brand’s commitment to strength and performance. The raw, industrial feel is balanced by the elegance of the timber, creating an environment that feels both modern and inviting.
  • LEED Platinum: Achieving LEED Platinum was a key goal for this project. Our team worked tirelessly to ensure that all construction efforts adhered to LEED standards. From sourcing sustainable materials to implementing energy-efficient strategies, we coordinated each step of the process with the goal of minimizing environmental impact. We closely tracked material usage, waste management, and energy efficiency during construction to meet the standards for LEED certification.

To bring this vision to life, our team dedicated over 14,000 man-hours on-site over the course of six months, working alongside 15 trusted trade partners. We were on-site every weekend in October and November, making sure the space was ready for Under Armour’s debut on Black Friday, just in time for one of retail’s biggest days.

This flagship project is a testament to Buch’s commitment to excellence, delivering a cutting-edge space that reflects Under Armour’s dedication to performance and innovation.
